Being Proud!

Gay Pride March displaying the different shades of sexuality in Indian Society

India saw its first gay pride march. Looking from within the closet, it was strange... I'm amazed at the courage of these people. Its not an easy job to stand up against this adamant ad intolerant society. There is no doubt that these marches will help people realize that this society does consist of a large number of individuals who do not identify as 'straight'. I'm not sure whether it will help change the situation further The common perception is that homosexuality is the result of westernization. Such parades may reinforce this misconception. On the other hand, something is better than nothing. Even if such parades manage to provoke a few individuals in the society, its good enough.

Sunday

Kitne Ajeeb....

Sometimes you wonder how weird it is being gay in a straight world...

Walking into the bus stand on friday afternoon, I was quiet uncertain about my decision to take the bus. The weekend before the New Year will definitely attract many to the bus stand. I tried to convince myself that I had no other options. I cannot fool myself. The monster in me needed just an excuse. The fact that there were more buses at this time was a perfect excuse.

Once inside the bus-stand, I realized that there was no reason to worry. At least 4 of the buses standing there were my route buses. I found a seat in the least crowded one. On one hand, I'm happy that I don't have to travel in a crowded bus. And, avoid those chance encounters... but on the other hand, I was disappointed for the same reason.

Recently, I had started disliking the idea of getting physically closer to a stranger. Even unintentionally.... in the crowd...

The reason in simple words: I don't have to try too hard to hide my erection if I happened to get one and then worry about someone spotting / feeling (unintentionally or otherwise) the bulge.

While I was busy weighing the situation, people started getting into the bus. A few minutes later, only a few seats were remaining. A young boy, girl and a woman who looked like their mother got into the bus. The woman and the girl sat in the seat before me and the guy sat behind me. While I was sure the boy and the girl were siblings by the way they called each other, I did not know how the woman was related to them. Obviously, I did not pay too much attention to their conversation. I assumed her to be their their mother. As the seat next to me was unoccupied, the girl asked her brother to come and sit next to me. I had no issues. The guy did look good!

It was all too normal until after 10 minutes when the bus was caught in traffic and a young man got into the bus. He was not very handsome and was just okay. As he walked towards the conductor I saw him looking at the people around me. He got the ticket and stood near the seat before me. There was plenty of space in the bus. He chose to stand right there... next to that woman.

I was lost in my world of thoughts when I suddenly noticed something fishy happening right before my eyes. The guy was standing too close to the woman. I started paying more attention. I can easily say that the woman pretended to sleep and allowed the guy to rub his thighs on her body. There were very few people standing in the bus. That did not stop the guy (in his early 20's) from trying to feel the body of the 35+ woman... Although I cannot say with certainty whether she really liked it or not, I can say for sure that she did nothing to stop the guy from feeling her... even something as simple as shifting her position in the seat to avoid the guy's thighs or crotch...

Well, I don't care what she had in mind... What concerns me was what was going on in my head. I had always thought of myself as a non-conservative. How can I be a conservative when I strongly support gay issues...?
But, sitting there watching this happen, I cannot help but feel uncomfortable... awkward... feel angry at what these people were doing.

When I see two hot guys standing next to each other, I let myself imagine them feeling each other... When I see two guys doing it, I feel happy for the guys... But, watching a man and a woman do the same makes me feel.... uncomfortable.

Now, thats weird...

For a gay living in a straight world, its discomforting to witness a heterosexual act....

How Strange!!!

Monday

Its not often that you come across any reference to homosexuality on the front page in the newspaper. The shocker today was an SMS poll on gay marriage in Deccan Chronicle.

The SMS poll asks whether gay marriages should be legalised. I was pleasantly surprised to find a thumbnail picture of happy gay couple in a box on the top-left side of the front page. While the question made me smile , I couldn't help but find it ridiculous (hmmmm..... am I being too rude???). As the newspaper is for south indians, it obviously means "should gay marriage be made legal (in India)?" Its ridiculous because being gay is still a crime in India. Hmmmmm....... may be that was technically incorrect. According to section 377 of Indian Penal Code, the acts many homosexuals enjoy punishable crime. Imagine a hypothetical situation where gay marriages are legalized in India... Of course, the gay couples will be delighted and those who decide to get married may find themselves behind bars.
I think the question should have been, "should homosexuality be decriminalised in India?"

Yes, I do find the poll question ridiculous. I must accept that this is a bold attempt on part of the newspaper. I'm glad they even thought of this!
I'm curious to know how people respond.

Whatever be the result, its not going to the view of the people. The niche, that this newspaper caters to, do not represent the conservative Indian society. Also, this is an SMS poll, where only those who want to voice their views on this particular issue those who do not mind spending a rupee on SMS, participate. These two conditions bring down the number of the respondents to very few.

For, those of you, who wish to take part in this poll, type 'Y' for Yes or 'N' for No and send it to 7007 or email the same to dcpolls@deccanmail.com

boringgggggg

oh such a boring day.........
i watched a movie on pix. its called No escape... escape from ..... something. i don't remember. its got tis wonderful plot. a group of men find themselves on this island, separated from the mainland, highly protected.... they are prisoners in facct. there is no woman there. atleast i cudn't see any.
its a perfect setting for a gay movie. to explore the bondage between young healthy men. but the movie is abt some boring stuff.
but the hero was sexy. in fact, the bad guy was too hot. he would be a great homosexual. pity, i don't know their names.
i had to masturbate looking at the hero trying to rescue his friend who by the way would have very easily been his lover. he after all kills himself for the hero.
its wasn't a very bad movie afterall. may be alittle more intimacy between guys and a little more of shower scenes or guys making out.. you know such things .... would have made it more enjoyable.

Sunday

Is he gay?

Is he gay? This is the question I repeatedly asked myself for about two hours. In fact, I had been asking this question for as long as 12 years now. Its only the person that the word ‘he’ refers to that changes.

This time, it refers to this guy I met a few months ago. He managed to attract me the moment I set his eyes on me. He has a fair complexion, and a slim body that is little less than 6 feet tall(that’s the normal height here in South India). He is one of the most handsome guys I had seen. My crush on him was quite spontaneous. At first sight, he seemed much like an ordinary guy. I did not even think he could be gay. When I started talking to him, the way he talked raised this suspicion in my mind. Needless to say, I was excited. That was strasnge because, I normally don’t like guys with so-called feminine attributes (no offence). But, this guy was certainly an exception. I didn’t find him eyeing any guy or girl during the entire conversation. The way he moved his hands, the tone in his speech… all made me question his sexuality. Recently, I caught him looking at a girl as she passed. I thought I knew the answer for my question. It was not an exciting ‘yes’. But, within minutes, I found looking at a guy, passing by. From the way he looked (in both the incidences), I could say that he was ‘eyeing’ them. I mean, he scanned the entire body in just a second. I would do that only when I find some really good-looking guy. Unfortunately, I did not see them (the guy and the girl) as I was standing in front of him and the walked by behind me.

Until the last few days of my college, the word, ‘he’ referred to one of my classmate. I did find him attractive but he was not the kind of guy you would naturally tend to think when you say handsome. His round eyes, small lips and those soft thighs made me like him for almost 3 years. Not that I don’t like him anymore.

When I was in school, ‘HE’ was another ordinary guy about whom I mention in my first blog.
I’m sure I’m not the only guy in this world with this question. Many would have found themselves being haunted by the same question many times.

If you are reading this, and had the same problem, can you tell me how to fix this.

Monday

Beginning of the journey

Hey there! This is my first blog here. So let me start with a brief (???) intro about my
self. I’m gay. I realized this many years ago when I was very young. But I didn’t know how
to call that. My teenage was very confusing. My attempts at understanding my sexuality
revolved mainly around comparing my thoughts with my classmates’. There was one small
problem. I could not talk to my friends about this. Not that I was dumb. I simply could not
talk about my fantasies that involved only men. Why?? Don’t think that’s very difficult to
guess. You don’t want to get outcast by your classmates. I did find a solution to this
problem, eventually. It was to overhear their conversations. Fortunately, I didn’t have to break into somebody’s private space to do that. The guys in my class were quite vocal. They would discuss everything from crushes to sexual acts (quite loudly). So, all I did was just sit in my place and when I don’t have anything to do, just pretend to read something and listen to what the guys were talking about. Nobody would suspect me. Atleast, I thought so. But, more than the fragments of conversation, it was the actions that answered many of my questions. I don’t know which country you belong to and what a class room means to you. I don’t think
there will be much of a difference though. In my class was this popular guy, lets call him Vid. Actually, he was my first crush. I found him attractive for all 6 years at school. He was more like what you’d call a jock but nice with everyone and fits into all the crowds but he wanted to be with the guys who would always talk about sex. In that group was this macho guy who seem to know – or at least acted as if he knew – everything about that. Lets call him San. It sounds awkward but guess I don’t have any thing else. These two guys were my primary interest. Because, when they talked they seemed to suggest that my feelings for men were abnormal but sometimes, their behavior suggested otherwise.
When girls were not around, they would like to get a little too closer. After these years, I
still have some vivid memories. Vid was standing before us. San came towards him. When he
was just behind Vid, he stopped and embraced Vid from behind. Within moments, his hands
found their way to Vid’s crotch. Vid had anticipated this and was trying to protect himself
with his own hands. And, he would bend his body in a way would press his behind
into San’s crotch. They were struggling in front of the whole class. Both of them had a
smile in their faces throughout. They seemed to be enjoying it. Although the struggle
involved was a matter of strength, it was also something they found pleasurous. Vid called
his partner all kinds of names. This lasted for a few minutes, and Vid would claim victory
for escaping San’s grip or San himself would give up after claiming to have sqeezed Vid to
defeat. This didn’t really answer my questions. Instead raised many. Made me more curious.
Such battles would not happen very often and I had to wait. As you would have guessed, these were not the only form of homosexual acts I witnessed in
the class. A few times, I had found San kissing (always forcibly) other guys. Now,
thinking about all that, I have no idea what went on in the minds of all the guys in that
group when they cheered San, and in the minds of those guys who remained mute spectators (some with smiles in their faces) who had taken the occurrence of such incidents for granted. And more importantly what went through in the minds of San and Vid.After a few years, I realized that my approach was not good enough. I was confused. I realized what it meant to have sex. But didn’t understand why guys tried to press and hump their crotch into other (their victim’s) back. But one thing was for sure, my sexuality was certainly not usual. I was almost sure that I was strange and I had some kind of disease when I happened to find
other sources. Magazines. In my family you wouldn’t find many magazines. But, at that time,
I could get my hands on one moderate magazine that was meant to be for the family yet
carried some interesting articles occasionally. After a few years, finally I realized that I
was not alone and there are lots of guys out there who share my feelings. When I was 17, I got introduced to the whole new medium. WWW. Internet and world wide web
was not entirely new to me though. But, it was new as a teacher of such info. I came face to
face with reality. I saw why guys hump other guys from behind. It was shocking. Nothing less
than horrible. I could not take that image out of my head for many months. The guy at the
bottom was horrified. I could not believe that men had sex with other men this way. It was
difficult for me to convince myself that I have to endure such a torture simply because I
love a guy. I desperately needed professional help. I tried hard to change my orientation. I wanted to force myself to look at girls with lust and to ignore the pleasure I received from the look and touch of guys I liked. After all this, I moved to the next level. I cannot fool myself. I’m gay and I can’t change it.
Neither can I forego my sense of dislike for the kind of act I witnessed. I found a way out.
If at all I gained an active sexual life, I would not let my partner’s precious part taste
my excreta. Neither would I allow my partner, the guy I love, experience pain. I would share
only pleasure with my partner. No Pain. After a few years, I still think the same way. But my thoughts about the act had changed.
After reading some of the experiences of men performing such acts online, I think it must
not be all that painful after all. Or atleast, the element of pleasure had to be more than
the pain factor. This is how I realized my sexuality. My realization is certainly not
complete for I’m still a virgin. And my journey goes on.
Don’t think this is a proper intro. But anyways this is it for today. Don’t know when I’ll
be back. Before I go, if you’ve read this, why don’t you let me know what you think about my
‘journey’. Later… Ciao.
